FAQ
Straight answers about the free directory, dashboard tracking, data privacy, billing, and installing Gig Workers Guide like an app.
General
What is Gig Workers Guide?
GWG has two parts: a free platform directory for finding sites that actually pay, and a paid dashboard for tracking earnings across the platforms you use.
Is the platform directory really free?
Yes. You can browse platforms, read ratings, and start with a free account. The paid plan is for the earnings dashboard.
Do you support my favorite platform?
If it is in the platform directory, yes. The tracking method depends on whether that platform exports usable data.
Can you add a missing platform?
Yes. Suggest it through support. Popular requests get priority, and paid members can ask for a platform-specific tracking path when it is digitally possible.
Dashboard Tracking
Which platforms support imports?
Right now, Prolific and CloudResearch have CSV import boards, while PaidViewpoint and Respondent have copied-page paste parsers. Platforms without useful exports or account tables use manual tracking.
How do I track platforms that do not export data?
If a platform has no import path, use the fast manual entry form when you cash out. Add the payout amount and date, and GWG logs that income in your dashboard history.
Why do my GWG totals not match the platform totals?
GWG totals the rows it can actually import, paste, or that you enter manually. Platform totals can differ when a platform shows money on screen before it appears in the export, leaves bonus or adjustment money out of a CSV, changes a row after approval, uses a different timezone, or reports totals in another currency.
For Prolific, the dashboard includes a reconciliation panel. Upload your newest CSV first, then compare GWG's CSV row total with the GBP and USD totals shown by Prolific. If Prolific is higher, enter the current Prolific totals there and GWG will show the difference as Not itemized in CSV. That saved comparison resets after each new Prolific upload because the gap can change every time.
If a total still looks wrong, keep the original CSV and send support the platform name, row or study name, date/time, completion code if available, what the platform screen shows, and what GWG shows.
Can I use dashboard totals as official tax or financial records?
No. GWG is a helpful tracking and summary tool, not financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and dashboard totals are not guaranteed official records. Imports, paste parsers, and manual entries depend on the data available from each platform and what you add to your account. Verify your numbers against platform records, payout accounts, CSV exports, and official tax forms before relying on them for taxes, bookkeeping, or financial decisions.
What are the colored platform ratings?
Worker ratings use Worth it, Caution, and Avoid signals. Pay-speed badges describe known payout timing, while community badges come from rating patterns.
Why do some platforms have no community badges?
Not enough ratings yet. The badge system waits for a meaningful pattern across independent worker reports before it labels a platform.
Privacy & Data
Do you store my earnings data?
Yes. Uploaded CSV rows, parsed copied-table rows, and manual entries are saved to your account so your dashboard works across sessions and devices.
What do you do with my data?
It powers your dashboard. GWG does not sell your earnings data, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can permanently delete individual transactions, platform histories, or your full account data. Hard delete means gone from the server, not just hidden.
Billing
How much does the dashboard cost?
Dashboard pricing is $4.99/month or $49.99/year after the 3-day trial. Check the pricing page for any current promotional rate.
How do I pay?
PayPal handles secure recurring billing. The paid dashboard plans start with a 3-day trial, then renew until you cancel.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel the subscription through PayPal. Dashboard access continues through the current paid period.
Do you offer refunds?
No refunds after the trial. Cancel during the trial or before the next renewal if you do not want to continue.
Install App
Can I install Gig Workers Guide like an app?
Yes. On Android, open Gig Workers Guide in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Install app. On Windows, open it in Chrome or Edge and use the browser install option, then pin it to your taskbar if you want it handy.
Why did I only get a generic shortcut?
Remove the old shortcut, reload the site, and try installing again. Chrome can keep stale manifest metadata after an app update, so a fresh install pass may be needed.
