The Short Version
We store your earnings data securely, and only to provide your dashboard. When you upload a CSV or log an entry, we save it to your account so your dashboard works across devices and sessions. We never sell your earnings data, never use it for advertising, and you can delete it anytime.
What we store: Your email address, password hash, account creation date, dashboard settings, earnings entries, and any optional email-update preference you choose. That is it.
What Information We Collect
Account Information:
- Email address, for login, account recovery, and essential service communications
- Password, stored as a secure hash
- Account creation date
Dashboard Settings:
- Which platforms you add to your dashboard
- Your preferred currency display settings
Payment Information:
- We use PayPal for billing. We do not receive or store your credit card numbers or bank account details.
- PayPal shares your PayPal email address and transaction IDs with us to verify your subscription status.
Your Earnings Data:
- The entries you log and CSV exports you upload are stored in your account so we can calculate and display your totals across sessions and devices.
- This data is yours. We use it only to power your dashboard. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers.
- You control it: removing a platform permanently deletes the entries you logged for it, individual entries can be deleted anytime, and deleting your account removes all of it.
What We Do Not Collect
Your Platform Logins:
- We never ask for your Prolific, CloudResearch, or other platform login credentials.
- You upload data from these platforms yourself. We do not connect to them on your behalf.
Personal Information Beyond What the Service Needs:
- We do not require your name, address, phone number, Social Security number, or other unnecessary personal information.
How We Use Your Information
- Essential account email: We use your account email for login links, password resets, billing and membership messages, security notices, and important service or policy announcements. These are not mailing-list messages.
- Optional product updates: At checkout, you may choose to receive occasional Gig Workers Guide product updates. We send a confirmation email before adding you to that list. Each optional update includes an immediate unsubscribe link.
- Unsubscribing: An unsubscribe request stops optional product updates. It does not prevent essential account, billing, security, service, or policy messages.
- Dashboard settings: We use them to remember which platforms you are tracking and show the right interface when you log in.
- Payment information: We use PayPal transaction information to verify your subscription status and grant access to the dashboard.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the service:
- All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are securely hashed
- Database access is restricted
- Your earnings data is stored in a restricted-access database and is not exposed to advertisers
Third-Party Services
PayPal: We use PayPal for payment processing. When you subscribe, PayPal processes your payment information under its privacy policy.
Email delivery: We use Resend to deliver account and optional update emails. Resend processes recipient email addresses and email-delivery information on our behalf to send and deliver those messages.
Hosting: Our site is hosted on managed virtual private server infrastructure. The hosting provider processes ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses, page requests, and timestamps, to operate and secure the service.
Your Rights
- Access: You can view your account information by logging in.
- Deletion: Remove a platform to instantly purge its data, or delete entries one at a time. To delete your entire account, including your email address, password hash, settings, and earnings data, email [email protected]. We will complete the request within 7 days.
- Data Portability: Email us for an export of your entries and settings.
Children’s Privacy
GigWorkersGuide is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify account holders through their account email address.
