UserTesting or Userlytics: which usability-testing platform fits you?

Both platforms pay selected participants to give feedback on digital experiences, and both may ask you to record your screen and speak your thoughts aloud. Neither account guarantees invitations or earnings. The practical difference starts with each platform's qualification path, the tests that match your profile, and when an approved test is paid.

UserTesting reviews a practice test before paid invitations

UserTesting says applicants verify their email, complete a profile, connect PayPal, and submit a practice test. After approval, invitations appear in the test feed and may use screener questions to confirm fit. The reward for a test is shown before acceptance, and UserTesting says standard-test payments are usually sent through PayPal 14 days after completion.

Userlytics matches tester profiles to invitations

Userlytics uses a tester profile and invitations for usability work involving websites, prototypes, advertisements, videos, and other material. Tests can require spoken feedback, screen recording, or a webcam. Userlytics says approved tests are paid automatically through PayPal on its biweekly Friday schedule, approximately 15 days after completion.

A useful way to decide

Apply through both official tester routes if each accepts participants in your location, then keep both profiles accurate and compare the invitations you actually receive. UserTesting has the clearer published application checklist and practice-test review. Userlytics is worth adding as a separate invitation pool if you are comfortable with its recorder and test-specific webcam requirements. Before every test, confirm the displayed reward, device needs, privacy instructions, and payment status for that assignment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I test with both UserTesting and Userlytics?

Yes. They are separate usability-testing platforms. Keep each profile accurate, follow each test's confidentiality and recording instructions, and track invitations and payments separately.

Does signing up guarantee paid usability tests?

When do UserTesting and Userlytics pay?

UserTesting says standard-test payments are usually sent through PayPal 14 days after completion. Userlytics says approved tests are paid through PayPal on a biweekly Friday schedule, approximately 15 days after completion. Always check the current platform record for a specific test.
